The Parks Department will host a blessing for the new ADA Dune Walkover/ Ramp on May 25, 2012 at 8 am at Kamaole III Beach Park by the ramp. All are invited... please come to show our collective support. Many dignitaries have been invited and, as part of the South Maui Volunteers team, you will be honored for this project. Of course, we could never have done it without the skill and expertise of Jeff Kern, craftsman extraordinaire!
On Monday, May 21, we will have about 100 Lokelani 8th graders show up at the Kihei Boat Ramp again to do some community service. Their project is called 'SOS' for 'Save Our Shores'. The SOS project has become a twice yearly field trip so that all of the 8th graders have an opportunity to come down to work. A week or two prior to their field trip, Lis makes a slide show presentation to their classes.
When they arrive at the designated site, we want to break into smaller groups so we need help with the leaders for each group. You will not have to work, just help them understand what is expected of them and where their 'job' begins and ends. The group arrives at about 8:15, so we'll have some time prior to that to organize a bit. The group leaves at about 10... that's a bit later than our usual workday, so please plan accordingly.
It's always a busy, but fun day.... hope you will join us!
